The organizers decided to take the bold step and climb out of the proverbial box to make this wonderful event even more enjoyable and challenging to you, our supporters, without compromising our unique identity.

The START and FINISH of all three the distances, 18 km, 35 km, and 75 km will now be at the picturesque Mac Mac Forest Retreat, halfway between Sabie and Graskop. 18 km (Start 8: 30 am)

forest 2 falls mountain bike raceA brand new route will be awaiting the family riders, the not so fit or the beginners who want to enjoy our beautiful nature at their leisure. Watch this space for an update closer to the race.

35 km (Start 8: 15 am)

Forest Falls. This is where this event’s name originated. Described as one of the most beautiful routes in SA, both the 35 and 75 km riders will have the privilege of enjoying this loop. Starting off with “comfortable” gravel roads through Pine tree forests, the route will soon change to single track over grassland, leading to the edge of the escarpment with patches of indigenous forest and a beautiful view of the Lowveld. Some tricky and technical patches through the plantations and over grassland, will give the more brave at heart an adrenalin rush and the nature lover a chance to rest. Beware of the treacherous down hills mountain bike race in mpumalangacovered with pine needles! You may just find yourself in an awkward position! With three well stocked and very helpful water points, the weary legs may get the rest they so desperately need. Maybe a shower under the famous Forest Falls is what the doctor ordered! All depending on the weather, this leg can be very fast, or extremely challenging, slippery and muddy. Being at the end of our rainy season, anything is possible.

75 km (Start 8: 00 am)

After completing the first leg with the 35 km riders, the 75 km riders will do a brand new second leg. Finding interesting and challenging tracks after the fires of the past couple of years, forced us to move to a new destination and our route specialists are very excited about this family fun ridedevelopment. We believe that this leg will be just as exciting as the 35 km with longer up hills to test stamina, but also some challenging single tracks to test the extreme skills of the very fit riders. As the route enfolds, we will keep you posted. Watch this space for more information!
